Cinema across the generations

red balloonWe had a great community night on Monday with the help of Balerno cubs who opened up the cinema to members of Balerno’s Monday Club. The Monday Club is a group of over 55 year old residents who regularly meet up and socialize together. The chosen film was the 1956 classic “The Red Balloon”. Google it for a lifetime’s reading of film school praise, or just take it as it comes – an enchanting film about a young boy’s adventures with a floating red balloon.

The feedback certainly suggested that their efforts were much appreciated and it’s great to see the cinema being used in this way.venue

The next cinema weekend (Coming Soon) is on Friday 10th /Saturday 11th of May when we open on the Friday with a screening of “War Horse” as a fundraiser for Ravelrig Riding for the Disabled. It’s already sold out – but keep an eye online in case this changes.

On Saturday we kick off with our matinee “Despicable Me”, followed in the early afternoon with the second best film of all time “Singing in the Rain” sponsored Balerno’s own energy company Harlaw Hydro. The classic movies theme is boosted by the wonderful Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis caper “Some Like it Hot” rounded off with an evening showing of “The Odd Couple”. These are really great movies and deserve to be seen on a bigger screen.

Tickets are still available via the booking page and we look forward to seeing you all again then!
