Another Classic weekend of film gold in Balerno kicked off on Friday night with a sold out charity screening of War Horse in aid of Ravelrig Riding for The Disabled. An appreciative audience remained engrossed in this serious feature. At the end when one young Lad was leaving, he remarked, “Look it’s still light“. Cinema across the generations
We had a great community night on Monday with the help of Balerno cubs who opened up the cinema to members of Balerno’s Monday Club. The Monday Club is a group of over 55 year old residents who regularly meet up and socialize together. The chosen film was the 1956 classic “The Red Balloon”. Google it for a lifetime’s reading of film school praise, or just take it as it comes – an enchanting film about a young boy’s adventures with a floating red balloon. Tickets for 10/11 May now available
In may we will be screening 5 films over the weekend of Friday 10th and Saturday 11th of May. Please follow the links below to reserve tickets or you can also pick up tickets from the Post Office or the Mill Cafe. Friday 10th May – a fundraiser for Ravelrig Riding for the Disabled:

Saturday 11th May:
- Despicable Me screening at 10am CERT PG
- Some Like It Hot screening at 12.30pm, CERT NC
- Singing in the Rain screening at 3pm, CERT NC
- The Odd Couple screening at 7pm, CERT NC

Next Cinema Saturday 11th May
May at Balerno Village Screen is all about rediscovering some popular classics. On Saturday 11th of May we have:
- 10am Despicable Me – for the kids: When a criminal mastermind uses a trio of orphan girls as pawns for a grand scheme, he finds their love is profoundly changing him for the better.
- 1pm Some Like It Hot – Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon, George Raft
When two musicians witness a mob hit, they flee the state in an all female band disguised as women, but further complications set in. - 3pm Singing in the Rain –
Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor, Debbie Reynolds – A silent film production company and cast make a difficult transition to sound, sponsored by Harlaw Hydro - The Odd Couple – Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau – Two friends try sharing an apartment, but their ideas of housekeeping and lifestyles are as different as night and day.
