Films in March

The next Balerno Village Screen weekend takes places over the 14th and 15th of March. We will start on the Friday night in the Ogston Hall with Searching for Sugar Man – two South Africans set out to discover what happened to their unlikely musical hero, the mysterious 1970s rock ‘n’ roller, Rodriguez.

Following feedback we’ve decided to move our morning films to the afternoon and hopefully more people can attend. So on Saturday afternoon in St Jo’s we are screening The Sandlot CERT PG – screening at 2.30pm: A terrific family movie in the nostalgic style of Stand by Me. This is one of the best children’s films of the last twenty years.

Our box office Saturday evening film is Rush which tells the story of the merciless 1970s rivalry between Formula One rivals James Hunt and Niki Lauda. The screening will be a fundraiser for the the Chogoria Girls High School in Kenya and a local primary school nearby. A group of pupils and staff from Currie High School will be going to Kenya to help improve the facilities they have. Whilst there they will be undertaking a number of different projects, some practical and some curricular, a major focus of their work will be the refurbishment and decoration of classrooms in the local primary school. The Currie Pupils have already raised in excess of £5,000 to help with their practical based work and the money raised at the BVS screening will help ensure the trip is a great success.
