Earlier this year we were all very saddened by the passing of our dear friend and supporter Louise Duncan.

To celebrate Louise’s life and vigour, and to raise money for the charity that did so much for her in her last months, Marie Curie, Derek and friends are organising a fun action packed weekend in August called ‘Run for Me – Dance for Me – Think of Me’.

Part of this weekend will include a film screening from Balerno Village Screen in the shape of Young @ Heart.  All net proceeds from the screening will go to Marie Curie in memory of Louise.

The film documents the true story of the final weeks of rehearsal for the Young at Heart Chorus in Northampton, MA, whose average age is 81, and many of whom must overcome health adversities to participate. Their music is unexpected, going against the stereotype of their age group, performing songs, for example, by James Brown, and Sonic Youth. Although they have toured Europe and sang for royalty, this account focuses on preparing new songs, not an easy endeavor, for a concert in their home town, which succeeds in spite of several real heart breaking events.

We ask that you reserve a free ticket in advance (via the button above) to help us manage numbers. There are no reservation or booking fees. We also ask that if you can no longer attend to cancel your ticket to allow someone else to see the film.
