Skyfall and Brave update

Very exciting – less than 24 hours until Skyfall comes to Balerno! There are a handful tickets available for Friday night from the Mill Cafe or the Post Office so there is still time to get a ticket. On Saturday both Brave and Skyfall tickets have all gone.

If you are coming on Saturday, please be aware that Scotmid are making a film about Balerno Village Screen. You may be filmed in or around the screening or asked for an interview if you are attending any screening. They may also want to interview some children, usual disclaimers will be available for signing. If you wish to discuss this please feel free to ask one of the committee members (wearing the BVS t-shirts).

Refreshments and popcorn will be available at each screening and please arrive with enough time to get seated – doors open around 30 minutes before screening time.

And if you were listening to BBC Radio Scotland this afternoon you might have picked up the BBC Movie Cafe feature on Balerno Village Screen when they came to The Artist – you can listen again via the BBC Iplayer (starts 28.15) includes interviews with Iain Smith, Louise Duncan and some members of the audience – was it you?

Skyfall Friday screening

Owing to popular demand, we’ve decided to put on an additional screening of Skyfall: 7.30pm on Friday 1st March. If you would like to come along, you can pick up a ticket from The Mill Cafe or the Post Office on the High Street or you can book online:

All tickets for all of the screenings on Saturday have been taken up and we are currently working through any returned tickets (there are only a few) and we will reallocate them to those who are on the Saturday waiting list.

March tickets available

Our next screening date is Saturday 2nd March 2013 and tickets are now available for booking. – tickets can be booked online via the links below or can be collected from the Mill Cafe or the Post Office.

Brave screening at 11.15am  (doors open 15 minutes in advance).

Brave follows the heroic journey of Merida, a skilled archer and headstrong daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson).
Online tickets SOLD OUT – there may be some available at the Mill Cafe and the Post Office but we hope to be able to confirm soon.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Skyfall (12A) screening at 4pm and 7.15pm (doors open 30 minutes in advance).

In Skyfall, Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

7.15pm – online tickets sold out and around 40 from the Mill Cafe and the Post Office. Tickets available on a first come first served basis.

 

Please note Skyfall has a 12A certification.

Skyfall screening in March

A treat for all of you Bond fans. Skyfall has been named film of the year at the London Evening Standard British Film Awards and will be screened on Saturday 2nd March at Balerno Village Screen. We hope to confirm screening times this week – please keep an eye on social media and/or subscribe to our email updates so you get an alert as soon as tickets become available.

Balerno Village Screen Up and Running!

The Balerno Village Screen is up and running – we have our community cinema in Balerno. Thank you all for coming along and making it a fantastic afternoon and evening to remember! We had a fantastic night and it went way beyond all of our expectations. So, where to start….

Thanks to the team of volunteers the hall was ready by 2pm when the first members of the community arrived. The hall filled up nicely, the popcorn went down a storm and the show began. Pete Ross, the BBC reporter covering the day, surely picked up the massive positive community vibe that was happening. Hopefully this will feature in the two minute piece this Thursday.

The film ran without a hitch and there was a great round of applause at the end with a huge positive rating of the experience endorsed by our ‘technical’ voting system and by the healthy donations made by the audience of young and old. Following some quick turn arounds, the second show played to a full house of enthusiastic and generous punters. Yet more positive feedback was received from this audience and the hall was buzzing at the end.

The third show was possibly the best. Following some technical adjustments and the darker environment caused by it being night time, there seemed an even better feel about the place. The complimentary wine seemed to go down well and the audience was extremely appreciative in their good wishes and their donations.

Thanks to everyone who came to see the film. The success of this venture is dependent on the audiences turning up. The screenings of the Artist attracted more than two hundred and fifty (250) people. I think we can safely say our community cinema is off to a great start. The team of volunteers who have given their time to make this happen should feel justifiably proud of their efforts. Salutations to them all.

Many thanks to everyone so far for their helpful comments and support in embracing the Balerno Village Screen. Tickets for the first show are moving quickly so remember to book asap if you want to come to The Artist on 2nd Feb.

We are trying to reach as much of the Balerno community as possible.
