What a weekend – our first ever musical and our first ever flashmob! What a surprise when the Balerno Theatre Company rose from the audience to give a fantastic rendition of the Les Miserables classic ‘At the End of the Day’. It really was a weekend highlight and was captured via the video below – it is well worth watching.

On Friday night we had a full house for Les Mis and very generous donations from our cinema goers for the charity SANDS Lothians. More than £350 was raised for SANDS and Nicola passes on a huge thank you to you all for giving so generously. To find out more about why we were supporting SANDS and the Balerno connection, please refer to this Evening News story.

Saturday kicked off with a really well attended matinee showing of Wreck It Ralph. Many well behaved children and adults and one evil wasp. We hope Carys is on the mend after being stung, poor girl was attending Balerno Village screen for the first time too.
In the evening a full house relished the screening of Les Mis and got a bit more than they had bargained for with the BTC flashmob. We’d like to say a huge thank you to BTC for this weekend highlight – we are reliably informed that their next show will be A Christmas Carol – The Pantomime – the show takes place at Church Hill Theatre from 4-7 December and tickets are available from their website.
And onto next month – more singing – we can all join in as we show Mamma Mia as part of the Balerno Music Festival – screening times and venues still in discussion so we’ll be in touch soon when confirmed. Thank you all again and see you in October.
